Who are the Optimists?
Self supporting networks of young theatre artists nurtured through China Plate’s innovative development scheme.
Through forging a sense of shared artistic and professional identity, we will establish new communities of young artists. We will harness the inspiration of a fresh generation of theatre makers, inspiring artistic practise through collaboration. We will share and foster a knowledge base for producing and supporting new work and key the participants into regional and national theatre networks and the development opportunities available to them.
China Plate will establish a number of communities of artists across the country. The pilot Optimist programme will run in the West Midlands in the spring of 2010.
