What do Optimists do?
The Optimists programme offers artistic inspiration and practical support. Over the course of a residential week we will run a series of structured sessions focussing on collaboration, developing artistic practice and the practicalities of making, funding and marketing work.
The artistic focus will be on interrogating the creative process, investigating models of collaboration and encouraging each Optimist to begin work on a new artistic idea. The producing strand will look at the existing regional and national theatre ecology, and how to make new work within it.
The legacy of each programme will be a new self-supporting network of theatre makers with their own regional identity.
